Design work has long been an essential component of the scaffolding that supports my life as an artist and a mother.
My work as a visual artist begins and ends with landscape. (You can see that work here: www.catherinemeier.com)
A couple of years ago I had the idea to merge my visual art practice and my design practice and create prints and shirts of North Shore landmarks.
When my family and I travel we go to wild and remote places, camp, and visit State and National Parks. Shirts are our go-to souvenir.
I just love a great shirt!

Cradyl formed after I finished my MFA at the University of Michigan. My son was born just days after getting my thesis signed, and I was thinking about how the flexibility of design work functioned as a system of support that allowed me to work and have my child with me, like a cradleboard.
