how it works

Creating websites for artists, non-profits, and small businesses

Needs, Wants, and Budget

A website is great support for other endeavors - it is a communication tool, a point of reference, or a calling card for your business, artwork, or organization's mission on the web. It allows you to introduce yourself, and others to learn about you and get in touch with you.

I meet with you to understand your needs, wants, expectations, and budget. Then I develop a plan that addresses these factors. I do not have packages; websites are priced per project.

The budgets of most of the websites that I work on generally range between $1000 and $4000.* However, I am open to discussing your project whatever your budget may be.

What you need to know.

If you are new to thinking about websites, you may not realize you’ll need a hosting site and domain name, but don’t worry. I can help with these and all other essential aspects of setting up a site for the first time. Facebook, Wordpress, Twitter, what? I can help with any questions you have about technology and what you need.

Next Steps... Design

Design means both the way your website looks and how it functions. It is the process that organizes your information and images into an appealing and understandable experience.

Once we have decide upon a plan, I gather your information such as images, text, etc., and develop a design. I then present to you a design, often I create two options. Once you approve the design, building begins.

Production

The production phase means making it a live, functioning presence on the web. Your content is uploaded into a website framework. Generally there are two rounds of review and editing of content, framework. Once a final round of content is approved your website is made live on the web.

Once the site is built...

So you have a website, but how will it be updated?

This is actually addressed in the beginning, and your website is built with this in mind. Websites are either built in atraditional manner using HTML and someone who knows how to use it needs to be able to manage updates, or they are built into content management systems like WordPress, which is simpler to access and update for people who do not know HTML or have web editing software. Perhaps, you may not even want the task of updating - in this case I am available for future updating.

Whatever the scenario is, I make sure that you have the instruction and/or information you need to take care of updating your website.

* This is a range. Some sites are higher than this, and lower budgets happen as well.
